What parts of the body does a stationary bike tone?

According to a study conducted by the University of Edinburgh , buttocks are composed of two muscles: the rectus femoris and the sartorius. The former is activated by cycling and the latter by running.

It is widely believed that cycling tightens the inner thighs, a myth that is perpetuated by many fitness magazines and the internet.

Many people have turned to cycling as a method of exercising the thighs because it allows the exerciser to use a low impact activity. The problem is that there is little scientific evidence to support the claim that cycling tightens the inner thighs.

Outer thighs are the thigh muscles that are targeted when you pedal, giving you the strength and endurance to pedal up hills. The inner thighs, however, are the area near your groin that gets toned from exercise. So if you're not cycling, you're not training your inner thighs.
