What To Do While Running On Treadmill? Read It Here!

Treadmill running can be a great way to get in shape and stay healthy. However, it gets boring after a while with nothing happening but the view of the ground passing by. There are many reasons people choose to run on a treadmill, and some of them may be more important than others. But all runners need to remember that there is always time for fun! If you are looking for something to do that will help keep your mind occupied, try these four ideas: 

  • Set up an obstacle course on the treadmill (e.g., put some cones along one side and have them start about 2 feet apart until they end about 10-15 feet from each other). Try to maintain good form as you move through them without stopping or slowing down
  • Play games on your phone like Candy Crush or Angry Birds while walking/running
  • Watch TV on your tablet - Watch motivational videos from athletes who have been through difficult situations but managed to push through them to achieve their goals. This may remind you why exercising is important for your health
  • Run at different speeds - Running slower will use more of the muscles in your lower body and give you a better workout than if you are always running at your normal pace.
  • Add hills into your routine - Hills not only help improve endurance, they also work different muscles that may need strengthening or conditioning.
  • Change up the incline- Running uphill requires more effort (especially when it's steep), so this challenge will force you to push yourself harder than flat terrain would allow!
  • Play music - Listening to music that inspires you can help make your run more enjoyable and may even distract from the pain of an uphill climb. Turn up your favorite music and dance along with it! This will help keep you motivated, energized, and moving at an appropriate pace. 

What to listen to while running on a treadmill?

There are a few things to consider when you're looking for something to listen to while running on treadmill. First, make sure the music is upbeat and lively enough that it motivates you but not so loud that it overpowers your breathing or distracts from what's going on around you. You may want some instrumental music if listening lyrics will be too distracting.

It's been scientifically proven that listening to music while running on a treadmill can make the time pass by faster and be less monotonous. Now, there are many different types of music out there, and it is up to you as an individual what type of music best suites your workout needs. Below I've listed some popular genres to help get you started! 

Pop: A great genre for getting energized before a run or during challenging intervals in your routine. Pop songs often have upbeat tempos with catchy melodies that will keep your heart rate elevated without feeling exhausted too quickly. 

Rock: Rock is another good choice if you need something with fast-paced beats that will keep your energy high throughout the duration of the workout. When paired with a good playlist, this style of music can help keep you motivated and feeling like there's no stopping you from reaching that goal time or distance.

Classical: Great for when you need something soothing, but not too low in energy because it may make your workout feel like more of a chore than an enjoyable activity. 

Jazz: Jazz is another genre that offers slower tempos while still remaining upbeat enough to get your blood going.

Electronic Dance Music (EDM): EDM offers a variety of tempos and beats so whether you're into slower paced workouts or faster ones, this genre will provide what we need. 

Alternative Rock: This style will be perfect for people who are looking for an emotional song in order to keep them focused while working out.

Rap: Rap is perfect for someone who needs a song with lyrics in order to keep them motivated. This style will be good for people who need the push of a beat to get their feet moving, as well as an emotional story that can help distract from any pain they might feel while working out.

Some people find it helpful to listen to guided meditation or self-help books for motivation and mental clarity.There are also a variety of podcasts out there that can be downloaded and listened to while running on the treadmill. Others like listening to their favorite songs or live music. It's up to your taste and preference!

What Can running on a treadmill do for you?

Running on a treadmill is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that will help you improve your overall fitness. It's also one of the most convenient exercises out there, because all you need is to set up a treadmill in your own home and start running.

Furthermore, if you have joint problems or other medical conditions which prevent you from going outside for long distances or even just jogging around the block, running on a treadmill can be an excellent way to get some movement without experiencing any pain.

It's also an inexpensive form of exercise, because you don't have to spend money on expensive equipment or a gym membership. You can run in the comfort and privacy of your own home at any time without having to skip work or school for clothes.

Treadmills are a great way to get in shape and stay active. It's easy exercise that can be done at home with minimal space, or at the gym if you have access. Running on a treadmill is similar to running outside, but it offers some benefits that outdoor running does not! 

Some of these benefits include: having your own set pace; being able to watch TV while working out; and the ability to change speeds without slowing down or stopping completely (as opposed to outdoor running which requires hills). How to Survive Long Runs on the Treadmill

We all know how hard it is to get a good run in during the winter months. You just can't bear the thought of going outside and braving the cold, dark days! But you can still maintain your fitness level by running on that boring old treadmill. Here are some tips to help you make those long runs more tolerable: 

  • Invest in a pair of wireless headphones so you don't have to listen to music through speakers or wear an armband (unless they're cute). I like these from Jaybird because they stay put even when I'm bouncing around on the treadmills.  
  • Stay hydrated with water or sports drink while running, but only if it's not too humid where you live as sweat won't evaporate and you will get dehydrated more quickly.  I like to take a shot of Nuun before my run too because it's packed with electrolytes which help keep me from cramping up!
  • Running on the treadmill is one of those times when I would be perfectly happy running in just shorts, but long runs require some protection against friction burns (or at least that's what they tell us!) so invest in anti-friction gloves or socks for your feet as well.  
  • If you're bored while running, try downloading an app like Zombies Run! It turns your boring old treadmill into a zombie obstacle course with sounds effects and everything. You'll never want to go outside again after this.
  • If it's cold out and the friction burns are too much to handle, wear a thin long sleeve shirt or tights under your running clothes so that only your feet (or hands) will come into contact with the treadmill belt/handlebars.
